Armed robbery suspect shot in CVS by police in Gloucester Township, New Jersey, officials say

A 65-year-old man who allegedly was committing an armed robbery inside a CVS in Gloucester Township, New Jersey, was shot multiple times by police Friday, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said. The shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. at the CVS on the 700 block of College Drive in Gloucester Township, according to the prosecutor's office. Officers were called to the scene for a report of a robbery.The man, whom the prosecutor's office identified as Michael Dougherty of Blackwood, was actively engaging in armed robbery inside the CVS, according to officials. Dougherty allegedly pointed a firearm at the officer, and they retreated to safety, the prosecutor's office said. The officer then pulled out his weapon and gave multiple commands for Dougherty to drop his weapon, according to the prosecutor's office. Dougherty then allegedly moved toward the officer, which led to the officer firing at the 65-year-old, the prosecutor's office said. Dougherty was struck by gunfire multiple times
